Rex: A foster in need of some Angels

Let me tell you about Rex, a Foster of the Humane Society of South East Texas, and a Dog looking for some Angels...
Rex is a lucky dog, although his life may not have started out in the best of ways. But, he came to the Humane Society, and found a Foster Mom in Shannon, and life was looking up for Rex!
Shannon is a dedicated foster for the Humane Society of South East Texas, and goes above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to her temporary pets. When she found Rex 2 months ago, she noticed he was holding up his rear leg and couldn't put weight on it. The Vet examined the leg and reccomended pain medication - there was no break, and with animals left to the care of the shelter, sometimes knowing the animals history is just impossible. So, Rex stayed on the pain medication for his leg.

After a few weeks, with the pain medication not working, Rex was brought back to the vet for an X-Ray. Turns out for poor Rex that he will need a bone surguery on his leg to correct the problem!

Not every dog that comes into the Humane Society is as lucky as Rex - there is just no way the the HSSET and Staff can afford to pay for special surgury or care required every animal in need of such drastic medical help. Many times, unless the animal has a Foster Parent or there is a very special circumstance, the animal is put down because it is more humane than to let them continue to live in pain, alone, at the shelter for months where they may - or may not - be adopted by someone willing to incur the cost of healing the animal. Rex is one of these very lucky cases.

Shannon cares for several animals - and every penny counts when youre trying to care for THIRTEEN animals! Rex has had his surgery - and is doing great - but any help from the HSSET community is greatly appreciated to offset these surgery costs. Even a little bit to help offset the cost of surgery for Rex's Foster Mom is a great help!
